American toy manufacturers begin to increase production in the country
Some American toy manufacturers are experiencing a rise in demand and are increasing domestic production due to the import tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
Simplay3 and Cra-Z-Art strengthening their positions in the market
Currently, the Ohio-based company Simplay3 has announced a hiring spree and expansion of production to make more products. They specialize in making slides, playhouses, and other toys for children. Thanks to production in the USA, Simplay3 has been able to maintain its prices despite Trump's imposed tariffs.
Also, Cra-Z-Art, a toy manufacturer, arts and crafts materials, and school supplies, announced plans to increase production in the USA due to rising costs of imported goods from China and other countries. Their production space currently spans 1 million square feet, but including new plans, this figure will increase by 50%.
Possible price changes for toys for American consumers
Approximately 80% of toys in the American market are made in China. According to The Toy Association, American consumers can expect price increases on toys due to the newly imposed tariffs. The Toy Association of America, along with other associations from different countries, is urging the US government to exempt toys from all tariff charges.
