The roof of a nightclub in the Dominican Republic has collapsed: the number of dead has risen.

As a result of the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, at least 124 people have died, and hundreds have been injured. The premises were full when the collapse occurred, and concrete slabs killed many. Among the dead was also the famous merengue performer Rubby Perez.
Rescuers continue their search and rescue operations and have already pulled 145 individuals alive. More than 20 people are in hospitals, eight of whom are in critical condition.
Prosecutor Rosalba Ramos stated that the authorities are currently focused on finding those who survived. An improvised morgue has been set up near the club, and over 120 people have lined up to donate blood.
A fire also broke out at the Pulse nightclub in North Macedonia, resulting in the deaths of 59 people. The tragedy occurred during a performance by the hip-hop duo ADN, and the probable cause of the fire is believed to be the use of pyrotechnic devices. More than 150 people were injured and are in hospitals. 10 individuals have been detained, including officials who issued a license to the club.
Both tragedies that occurred in nightclubs once again highlight the importance of safety at mass events. The deceased and injured are people who simply came to have a good Time. Authorities must ensure compliance with all necessary safety standards to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
