Odesa region on fire - a woman dies due to grass burning.


Yesterday, there were 88 fires in the Odesa region. The largest were related to the burning of dry grass. In the village of Broska, a 78-year-old woman died while trying to extinguish the flames. Additionally, during another fire, two small children were injured.

Fire with a casualty
A fire broke out in the village of Broska in the Izmail district, where dry grass covering an area of 2.5 hectares and two abandoned buildings in a dacha cooperative burned. Rescuers extinguished the fire; however, there were casualties. Unfortunately, the body of a 78-year-old woman was found on the site. It is likely that the deceased tried to extinguish the fire herself and fell into a trap.
Children injured
In the village of Novosvitivka in the Beryozivka district, stubble burned over an area of 2.5 hectares. Unfortunately, during the independent firefighting efforts before the arrival of rescuers, two girls aged 15 and 17 were injured due to poisoning from combustion products. They were hospitalized.
Fire with an injured person
Another fire occurred outside the village of Velyki Lonzaky in the Odesa district. Stubble burned over an area of 2.5 hectares and four abandoned outbuildings. As a result of independent firefighting efforts, a 70-year-old woman was injured and hospitalized with first and second degree burns on both lower limbs.
Other fires
Furthermore, yesterday afternoon, outside the village of Novopetrivka in the Rozdilna district, stubble, shrubs, and a forest strip burned over a total area of 23 hectares. Rescuers extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire and the damage are being determined. There are no casualties or injuries.
What to do in case of fire
If you see a fire in a field or in the forest, follow these instructions:
- Do not panic and do not run away from the approaching flames in the opposite direction, but overcome the edge of the fire against the wind, covering your head and face with clothing.
- Quickly exit the danger zone towards the direction perpendicular to the spread of the fire.
- Once out of the fire zone, inform local authorities and the emergency rescue service by calling '101' about the location, size, and nature of the fire.
- If escaping is not possible, go to an open area or enter a body of water; breathe through a damp cloth, staying as close to the ground as possible, and inform rescue services of your location.
Yesterday, a series of fires occurred in the Odesa region, resulting in casualties and injuries. This highlights the importance of following safe behavior rules during fires and timely addressing dangers.
