The Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC rejected the fake spread by hostile Telegram channels that the first secretary of the Ukrainian embassy in Lebanon, Mykola Khomenko, was injured as a result of the explosion in Beirut.
The Center noted that such fakes are spread with the aim of accusing Ukraine of cooperating with terrorists.
Hostile Telegram channels are spreading information about the injury of the first secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy in Lebanon, Mykola Khomenko, as a result of the explosion in Beirut (Lebanon). Verifying information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian embassy in Lebanon, the Center reports that there are no Ukrainian diplomats or Ukrainian citizens among the dead and injured.
The Center noted that such fakes are spread by Russian propaganda with the aim of accusing Ukraine of cooperating with terrorist groups and sowing distrust from the international community.
Dozens of members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, including militants and medics, were seriously injured on Tuesday during the nearly simultaneous explosion of pagers they use for communication.
