According to the director of the Institute of Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ella Libanova, employers in Ukraine prefer men over 60 and women.
In an interview with Spiegel magazine, Libanova emphasized that the full-scale Russian invasion had a negative impact on the economy and also changed the labor market.
"From the employer's point of view, the ideal worker today is someone who has already reached 60 years old because he cannot be called up for the army," Libanova noted. She also added that the shortage of labor was noticeable even before the beginning of the war. Now the Ministry of Economy warns that the state needs 4.5 million workers.
The demographer also stated that during the first two weeks of the full-scale war, 1.5 million citizens left Ukraine. Currently, there are no migration surges observed in either direction.
