The commander of the Drone Forces, Colonel Vadim Sukharevsky, may receive a new position - the commander of an unnamed army corps. This decision has been discussed by the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for several months.

Currently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have army corps in the Ground Forces, Air Assault Forces, and Marine Corps of the Navy.

On February 3, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced that Ukraine has begun organizational reforms to transition to a 'corps structure'.

By the end of April this year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will transition to a corps system, which will help improve the effectiveness of troop utilization.

In June 2024, Colonel Vadim Sukharevsky was appointed commander of the Drone Forces. He has been involved in the Russian-Ukrainian war since 2014.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the decision to create the Drone Forces within the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Recruitment is ongoing, but the number of willing participants is still insufficient.

Previously, Sukharevsky reported that Ukrainian military personnel had begun shooting down Russian FPV-type Shahed drones using drones.
