President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky solemnly presented the Order of Freedom to two outstanding Ukrainian athletes - fencer Olha Kharlan and boxer Oleksandr Usyk. This award is a recognition of their significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's independence and sovereignty, promoting societal unity, developing democracy, implementing socio-economic and political reforms, as well as protecting constitutional human rights and freedoms.
Olympic champion Olha Kharlan set a historic record for Ukrainian sports, becoming the holder of six medals at the Olympic Games. She is also the fifth Ukrainian athlete to win two Olympic gold medals.
Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury and became the first undisputed world heavyweight champion in the 21st century. He unified four championship belts – WBA, IBF, WBO, WBC. However, he later renounced the title of undisputed world champion.
