Zelensky talked about the new prisoner exchange: military personnel under 25 are returning.


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the start of a new stage of prisoner exchanges with Russia. This process will last several days and will take place in several stages according to the agreements reached during the meeting in Istanbul.
'Our people are home. Ukrainians are coming back from Russian captivity. Today a multi-stage exchange has begun that will continue in the coming days,' the head of state wrote on social media.
This Time, special attention has been paid to certain categories of prisoners of war. Among those being released now are the wounded and seriously wounded, as well as Ukrainian defenders under 25 years old.
According to the Coordination Staff for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, this is already the 66th exchange since the start of the war. The first group of released servicemen under 25 years old is returning home, representing various forces and military units.
Support and Rehabilitation of the Released
'Among those released today are representatives of the Navy, Ground Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, Air Forces, Assault Landing Forces, Border Service, National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service. All the released individuals are from the ranks of privates and sergeants,' the Coordination Staff noted.
Particular attention is drawn to the fact that among the released defenders are the defenders of Mariupol, who had been in captivity for three years. They were captured during the heroic defense of the city during the spring campaign of 2022.
Zelensky emphasized the complexity of the negotiation process: 'The process is quite complicated, with many sensitive details; negotiations are effectively ongoing every day.' He also expressed hope for the full implementation of the humanitarian agreements reached in Istanbul.
The released defenders will receive comprehensive assistance from the state, including the official restoration of documents, financial support for the entire period of imprisonment, and a one-time assistance package. In addition, they will undergo a full course of medical rehabilitation.
During the prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia, special attention was paid this time to the seriously wounded and young defenders. The released individuals will receive support and assistance in recovery after the war, as well as per agreements made during negotiations between the parties.Read also
