The US risks security through the sharing of classified data
The latest issue of The Atlantic features an investigation into the discussion by President Donald Trump's team regarding classified information via the Signal messenger. This indicates ignorance and negligence on part of the United States in matters of intelligence.
Ben Wallace, former UK Defense Minister, writes in his article for The Telegraph: 'These people are risking the lives of US servicemen for the sake of gossip and maneuvering. This shows the team's ignorance on military operations.'
'These people probably think that military operations are so trivial that they can risk soldiers' lives for gossip and tales...'
Wallace emphasizes the importance of the principle of freedom of navigation, as without it, China and Russia could gain complete control over certain areas. Additionally, he criticizes Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff for his comments about Putin.
'When I heard Steve Witkoff speaking about Putin, I did not know whether to laugh or cry. This was yet another step away from the moral leadership of the US...'
Wallace concludes that such behavior could be dangerous, as US enemies may exploit this situation for their own interests.
