Recognition by the Russians: Witkoff commented on the division of Ukraine.

Trump's Special Representative: 'The occupied Ukrainian territories are Russian'
The Special Representative of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, openly stated that the occupied Ukrainian territories are Russian. He discussed this in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.
Witkoff emphasized that the main issue in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is the question of the occupied regions, particularly Crimea and four Ukrainian regions. He noted that referendums were held in these territories, where the majority of people voted for joining Russia.
'They are Russian-speaking. There were referendums where the overwhelming majority of people stated that they want to be under the control of Russia. I believe this is the key question in the conflict. Therefore, this is the first thing that needs to be resolved. And we are having very positive conversations,' Witkoff said.
Carlson also pointed out that some of these regions currently actually belong to Russia, to which Witkoff replied that this has always been a question that everyone avoided discussing. He also noted that the main question is whether the world recognizes that these territories are Russian.
Moreover, Witkoff assured that Russia does not intend to occupy all of Ukraine and has obtained what it wanted, namely Crimea and five occupied regions.
He also expressed doubts about the position of European countries regarding intervention in the conflict and stated that the Russians do not intend to pave a route through all of Europe. Witkoff emphasized the need for stability and assured that Russia has received everything it wanted.
