In the first week of June, 2708 marriages were registered in Ukraine. The most weddings were registered in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Lviv. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on its Facebook page, informs 'Glavkom'.
Leaders in the number of marriages in Ukraine:
- Kyiv - 731 couples;
- Dnipro region - 211;
- Lviv region - 201;
- Odesa region - 163;
- Kharkiv region - 139.
High marriage registration indicators were also recorded in the following three regions:
- Kyiv region - 128 marriages;
- Vinnytsia region - 113;
- Poltava region - 102.
Fewer than a hundred marriages were concluded in ten regions of Ukraine:
- Khmelnytskyi - 95;
- Cherkasy - 88;
- Zhytomyr - 85;
- Ivano-Frankivsk - 83;
- Chernihiv - 66;
- Rivne - 64;
- Volyn - 58;
- Sumy - 56;
- Ternopil - 50;
- Zaporizhzhia - 53.
The least number of new families were registered in two regions:
- Kherson region - 5 marriages;
- Donetsk region - 19.
In 2024, 150,210 new marriages were registered in Ukraine, which is 19% less than in 2023 and 30% less than before the full-scale war began.
On average, 12,500 couples got married each month in 2024, the lowest figure in the last 10 years. Ukrainians also concluded more than 2,700 marriage contracts in 2024, which is 7% more than the year before, but still less than before the start of the war.
In June 2024, there was an increased demand for marriage registration in Ukraine, with the highest number of weddings in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Lviv. This is part of an overall trend of declining marriages in the country compared to previous years, which may be related to certain socio-economic or political factors.
