Ukrainian military spoke about the retreat from Suja - The New York Times.

The Ukrainian military was forced to leave their positions in the Kursk region of Russia due to the destruction of bridges by the Russians, which complicated their retreat. Russian drones attacked the bridges using explosive charges to block the retreat routes of the Ukrainians. As a result, one aerial bomb was dropped to completely destroy a key transport artery.
There was also an influence on the combat situation from North Korean troops, who retreated for regrouping and returned with better combat skills. Russian forces were able to approach the main supply routes and used drones operating through fiber optic cables. These drones would land on supply routes and wait for targets to pass.
The evacuation of Ukrainian troops mostly occurred on foot because their equipment was an easy target for drones. Ukrainian soldiers destroyed their gear to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. The retreat operation was organized but not without chaos due to fatigue, the quality of the orders, and communication problems.
According to analysts, there was not a single case of encirclement of a large number of Ukrainian forces, contradicting claims by Presidents Trump and Putin. Ukrainian forces left the Kursk region almost without a fight, which may indicate a low intensity of combat. It is noted that the settlements that fell under the control of Russian forces were taken practically without a fight.
