Ukrainian maritime drones shot down two Su-30s for the first time: Budanov revealed details of the historic operation.

The head of the GUR Kyrylo Budanov shared new details regarding the downing of Russian Su-30s.

According to him, Ukrainian military forces shot down two multifunctional fighters Su-30 Flanker. During the attack, three Magura-7 drone boats were used.

Budanov reported that missiles with infrared guidance AIM-9 Sidewinder hit their targets. This is the first Time that fighters were shot down by drone boats using AIM-9 to destroy the enemy.

The head of intelligence emphasized that this is a historic moment. The Magura V7 drones used by the scouts are a version of the Magura V5 for air defense.

He also spoke about the fate of the crews of the Russian fighters. One of them survived and was picked up by a civilian vessel in the Black Sea, while the other, according to preliminary data, died.

The GUR special forces of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the SBU, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully eliminated a Russian Su-30 on May 2, 2025, in the Black Sea. This officially became the world's first destruction of a combat aircraft by a maritime drone.
