Ukraine has gained access to new SAR satellite images: what advantages will the Ukrainian armed forces have.

Ukraine has gained access to SAR satellite images from the Finnish manufacturer ICEYE, thanks to the cooperation with SAR, Rheinmetall, and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This will allow the Ukrainian armed forces to have an advantage in monitoring and identifying targets. This was reported on the Rheinmetall website.
It is noted that Ukraine started receiving new satellite images at the beginning of October 2024.
SAR satellites can create high-quality images regardless of weather conditions and times of day, allowing even the smallest objects on the Earth's surface to be identified. This gives the military an advantage in surveillance, target identification, reconnaissance, and positioning on the battlefield.
In addition, ICEYE grants access to its group of SAR satellites, enabling the provision of radar imagery of critical objects.
As a reminder, the military intelligence of Ukraine began using the 'People's Satellite' on September 24, 2022. Within five months of using ICEYE, employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted space radar reconnaissance in nearly 1000 areas where enemy formations were located.
