Telegram outage caused problems for users worldwide
On Tuesday, July 2, the messenger Telegram experienced a significant disruption in service, as reported by Downdetector. Users are complaining about issues with the mobile app (49%), sending and receiving messages (39%), and there were also interruptions in the operation of the messenger in various countries, including Ukraine (12%).
This is not the first case of a disruption in the operation of Telegram; it is known that on June 8, this messenger also had problems that lasted for one and a half hours. Known consequences of the Telegram outage - Ukrainians used this situation to create memes, comparing it to the problem of power cuts.
In April, Telegram blocked official bots that opposed Russian aggression against Ukraine. The management of the messenger noted that these bots were blocked by the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Security Service, and the eVorog bot. The issue of regulating Telegram in Ukraine is also being discussed in the Verkhovna Rada. The Telegram administration refuses to block channels that spread Russian propaganda, which could lead to the blocking of the messenger itself in Ukraine.
