The Ministry of Environmental Protection has calculated the damage from the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station.

The damage caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station (HPP) amounts to about 14 billion dollars, reported the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk. She noted that this damage includes the destruction of the Kakhovka dam and the loss of water resources.
The amount of lost water resources compared to the stock of some African countries is significant, and the issue of water supply in the affected regions remains relevant for Ukraine. The government is looking for new sources of water resources and is building channels to supply quality drinking water to the population. Foreign partners are also involved in this.
The flooding of the territories of Kherson region has led to the loss of about 30% of the natural protection fund. However, a special ecosystem has formed in these flooded areas, which is gradually recovering. Willow forests are growing, and nature has adapted to the new conditions.
The minister warned that the consequences of this disaster will be felt in Ukraine for a long Time.
