The sowing campaign schedule causes delays in the Ministry of Agrarian Policy
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food states that due to the cooling in April, the sowing campaign is lagging by 200 thousand hectares compared to last year. Taras Vysotskyi, the First Deputy Minister, claims that this is not critical, as farmers are already starting to work around the clock starting next week. According to Vysotskyi: 'The April cooling halted the sowing campaign for a week. Now, compared to last year, 200 thousand hectares less have been sown. But at the scale of planning to sow over 13 million hectares of all crops, this is not critical and will not generally affect the sowing campaign, which is recovering and will continue around the clock'. However, the most threatened by the cooling is horticulture, in particular, early stone fruits such as apricots and peaches. The production of grains and oilseeds currently does not have critical consequences, as their growing season has not yet begun for most crops. Vysotskyi emphasizes that there is currently no threat to the production of grains, oilseeds, and, consequently, flour, bread, or livestock products.
