A new strain of Covid-19 is spreading worldwide: What you need to know.

The new strain of Covid-19, named HEС and part of the Omicron family, is spreading worldwide. By the end of this winter season, it may become dominant as the number of infections reaches its peak. A Doctor of Medical Sciences and an infectious disease specialist talked about the features of this new strain and the availability of vaccines that can protect the body from it.
Features of the HEC strain
One of the key aspects of this new strain is that it formed as a result of the merging of two already known variants. Additionally, HEC has at least one new mutation. However, it is currently unknown what impact this new mutation has on the patient.
Vaccine effectiveness against HEC
Specialists are confident that the vaccines already developed for protection against Covid-19 will be effective against HEC and other future variants of strains. However, due to virus mutations, complete compatibility between the vaccine and the circulating variant is impossible. Recently updated vaccines should also provide protection against HEC.
Dr. Roberts expressed optimism that, despite virus mutations, people will have a certain level of protection.
Recommendations to avoid infection
Experts emphasize that the most effective measure of protection against infection is vaccination. In addition, adhering to hygiene rules, ventilating premises, staying home when experiencing symptoms of illness, and wearing masks are also important factors for reducing the risk of infection.
Outbreak of fungal diseases
Fungal diseases have become more common as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change. Fungi have likely adapted to the changes in temperature regimes.
There is also an increase in antibiotic-resistant infections worldwide.
