Significantly cheaper: Turks are leaving their own resorts for another country.

The number of tourists from Turkey who went to Egypt has tripled. It is expected that this year Egypt will be visited by 250 thousand Turkish tourists. This was announced by the general director of Coral Travel Turkey Mehmet Kamchi for the publication Turizm Güncel.
In two years, the number of Turkish tourists received by Egypt has progressively increased thanks to the affordability of the country and the visa-free regime. "The number of Turks who visited Egypt in 2024 has tripled," said the Turkish expert. This year, about 250 thousand Turkish tourists are expected thanks to weekly flights. About 70 regular routes from Turkish and Egyptian carriers have been developed, with periodic flights the number rises to 100.
This brings Egypt money that Turkish tourism business does not receive. "Egypt's tourism revenues, which set a record by ending 2023 with 14.3 million tourists, reached $6.6 billion in the first half of this year. Last year, during the same period, Egypt earned $6.3 billion," he said.
In Egypt, they claim that hotels in Hurghada have significant occupancy, including at the expense of domestic tourists. The reason for this is price reductions that started in September.
Essam Ali, a member of the Red Sea Chamber of Tourism Institutions, stated that prices in hotels in Hurghada since September this year were lower than in similar hotels in other countries.
Mohamed Gamal, director of one of the hotels in Hurghada, reported that hotel occupancy reached 100%, that is, full capacity. He also cited "lower prices throughout the year than in alternative countries, particularly in Turkey" as the main reason. He also predicts a successful winter season "with high occupancy and high demand for bookings".
