Russia occupied 337 settlements in the Donetsk region
Over the course of more than three years of full-scale war, Russia occupied 337 settlements in the Donetsk region. This was reported by Natalia Chukova, head of the department for interaction with local self-government bodies of the Donetsk regional military administration, in response to a request.
According to Chukova, as of January 31, 2025, 784 temporarily occupied settlements have been recorded in the Donetsk region, of which 447 have been under occupation since 2014.
Currently, Russia controls a little over 60% of the territory of the Donetsk region.

According to the analytical project DeepState, in January 2025, the Russian army occupied 325 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, which is the lowest figure since August 2024. In comparison, in August 2024, 363 square kilometers were seized, in September - 397, in October - 503, in November - 730, in December - 394, and in January 2025 - 325 square kilometers.
