The company OpenAI has expressed interest in purchasing the Chrome browser, which belongs to Google. This was reported by Bloomberg agency.

OpenAI representative, Nick Tarley, stated that they are interested in acquiring Chrome, as many others are.

Currently, the ChatGPT service is used as an extension for Chrome. However, if OpenAI becomes the owner of the browser, they will be able to expand the integration capabilities of the chatbot within Chrome.

Earlier, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit to prohibit Google from owning the browser and entering into contracts with other companies regarding the use of Google's search system in their products. The government is trying to strip Google of its monopolistic status that hinders competitors from controlling a significant share of the search market online.

It is also known that OpenAI plans to create a social network similar to X, which will integrate with ChatGPT. As for whether this social network will be a separate application or integrated into ChatGPT, there is currently no information.

Analysis:

OpenAI wants to acquire the Chrome browser from Google. This may indicate their intention to strengthen their position in the artificial intelligence market and ensure deeper integration of their chatbot in one of the most popular browsers.

Disputes between the U.S. Department of Justice and Google over the company's monopolistic position in the search market continue. The measures proposed by the Department of Justice indicate a strategic desire to change Google's status. This could affect the technology market, particularly OpenAI as a potential buyer of the Chrome browser.
