Russians planned to shell Kharkiv from Lyptsi with long-range artillery - Joint Forces Operation 'Kharkiv'
Russian troops tried to capture the village of Lyptsi in the Kharkiv region to deploy long-range artillery and shell Kharkiv, but Ukrainian defenders maintain control over it, said OTS 'Kharkiv' spokesperson Pavlo Shamshyn.'In Lyptsi, there is a high ridge from which, in good weather, one can see the northern outskirts of Kharkiv, particularly the Saltivka area. The Russians planned to place long-range artillery there to shell the city — as revenge for the strikes on Belgorod,' Shamshyn said.Due to its strategic significance, the village has become a target of the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region. Unable to quickly capture Lyptsi, the enemy chose a tactic of total destruction.'In reality, the situation in Lyptsi is not much better than in Vovchansk. There is not a single surviving building in the settlement. The Russians are destroying everything they cannot capture quickly — they are effectively leveling towns to the ground using artillery of various calibers, MLRS, and aviation,' the spokesperson described the scale of the destruction.Ukrainian forces managed to maintain control over the village despite intense attacks and infrastructure destruction. Currently, the situation on this front section has stabilized.Pavlo Shamshyn warned that Russian plans regarding Lyptsi remain unchanged. The occupiers continue to consider this village an important element in creating a buffer zone at the border, hence new attempts to advance in this direction are possible.
