Mysterious bamboo cart found under glacier in the Alps in Switzerland
Traveler Sergio Viri discovered an ancient road under the glacier in the Alps while walking along a path. This road connects the Hinterrhein Valley and Splügen in Switzerland with the San Giacomo Valley and Chiavenna in Italy. The glacier blocked this road, but it melted, and the traveler became the first in our Time to walk this path.
I came across a cart with two wheels. This vehicle was a big surprise for archaeologists, who did not expect to see a well-preserved cart with wheels made of bamboo rods tied with cords at the site of the alpine glacier.
Bamboo belongs to the genus of perennial evergreen plants and mostly grows in the tropical regions of Asia. Bamboo was first brought to Europe in the late 1700s or early 1800s, so archaeologists are investigating how this cart got under the ice. The find has been handed over to the archaeological service of the Canton of Graubünden for examination.
It is also reported that the melting of glaciers requires adjustments to the borders of Italy, France, and Switzerland, particularly in the area of the Zermatt resort in the Swiss Canton of Valais. The glacier ridge lines determine a significant portion of the borders in this area, so their melting leads to changes.
