390 Ukrainians have been successfully released from Russian captivity. This marks the first stage of the '1000 for 1000' exchange, as stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He noted that this agreement was reached during a meeting in Turkey, and it is now important to fully implement it.
«We are bringing our people home. The first part of the agreement for the exchange of 1000 for 1000 has been realized. Today – 390 people. We expect the continuation of the exchange on Saturday and Sunday,» the president stated.
The Coordination Headquarters reported that today 270 military personnel and 120 civilians have been freed. Zelensky thanked partners for their assistance and mediation, emphasizing that this is just one stage of the struggle for Ukrainians who are in captivity.

The President of Ukraine also mentioned that the prisoner exchange today is already the sixth this year and the 65th since the beginning of the invasion. Zelensky has been in communication with partners and specialists to prepare lists of people for exchange in the '1000 for 1000' format.
«The agreement for the release of 1000 Ukrainians became one of the concrete results of the meeting in Turkey. Our main task is to return all Ukrainians from captivity,» emphasized the head of state.
Recently, negotiations took place between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul. European leaders have expressed their position regarding the halting of the ceasefire process specifically by Russia during these negotiations. This indicates the complexities and difficulties of resolving the conflict.
