UAF Operation in Kursk Region: ISW Analyzed Kremlin's Actions.

The Institute for the Study of War claims that Russia is preparing to respond to the Defense Forces' operation in the Kursk region, but its structure is currently ineffective.
"The Kremlin and Russian command are creating a complex, repetitive, and thus far ineffective command and control structure to respond to the Ukrainian invasion in the Kursk region," the analysts noted.
Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov announced the creation of a "coordination council" under the Russian Defense Ministry to address military and security issues in three regions.
Belousov stated that the council would provide support to the Russian forces covering the border and coordinate the actions of forces responding to threats along the border.
The Russian authorities are not yet changing the distribution of responsibilities between the Ministry of Defense, the FSB, and the National Guard in the Kursk region.
"The delay in creating a structure in the Kursk region shows that the Kremlin failed to plan for the possibility of a Ukrainian invasion into Russia. This also demonstrates a lack of strategic vision in the Kremlin," the analysts believe.
Experts claim that Russia is more focused on controlling the information space than addressing military issues.
They also note that Russia has begun a campaign to discredit military bloggers and social media channels that spread information about Ukrainian operations in the Kursk region.
"The Kremlin is likely attempting to create a new information space dominated by Russian milbloggers and propagandists," the analysts noted.
