The European Union supports Ukraine's accession to the union
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union is ramping up efforts to accelerate Ukraine's accession process to the union. She emphasized that the EU is providing overall support to Ukraine amounting to 134 billion euros, including 52 billion dollars in military aid. Von der Leyen highlighted that Ukraine is a part of the European family, and the country's future is in the EU.
Ukraine applied for EU membership in 2022, and negotiations have since begun. According to the European Commission, the first report on the verification of Ukrainian legislation will be sent by autumn 2025.
Our task here at the @MunSecConf is not just to describe this new geopolitical landscape but to shape it. And shape it in a way that ensures that our European values endure and our interests are defended ↓ — Ursula von der Leyen (@vonderleyen) February 14, 2025
