Apple prices have tripled: why the usual fruit has become more expensive than bananas.

We are experiencing a crisis with local apples in our country. Prices are skyrocketing, with the average cost reaching 85.20 UAH per kilogram, which is three times higher than a year ago.
Ukrainian shelves are filled with imported apples, especially those from Poland. This has led to a sharp increase in prices, which now exceed the cost of bananas.
'Currently, we are practically left without local apples. There are many imported apples on the market, primarily from Poland,' confirms Oleksandr Khorev.
Experts assert that the reason lies in the aging of orchards in Ukraine and the lack of new farms. Our apples are losing ground to Polish counterparts.
The rise in apple prices has brought their cost closer to that of bananas, which are priced at 74.15 UAH per kilogram. If nothing changes, Ukrainians may soon see even higher price increases.
Ukrainian apples are turning into a premium product, as the noticeable shortage of local fruits leads to a sharp increase in their prices. Imported apples, especially from Poland, dominate the market, creating a frenzy among consumers. Soon the prices of Ukrainian apples may even equal those of bananas, which could impact the wallet of every Ukrainian.
