How to employ 12.5 million economically inactive Ukrainians? The Ministry of Economy has found a way.

The Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna noted that Ukrainians who are not engaged in economic activities can be attracted to the labor market through training programs. Currently, there are 12.5 million such people, including students, pensioners, women on maternity leave, and people with disabilities. Government vocational education centers will allow them to acquire new professions and improve their professional education.
According to Tetiana Berezhna, the reform of vocational education centers will help strengthen their capabilities. Businesses will be involved in the supervisory boards of these centers so that entrepreneurs can influence the training of specialists according to their needs. Currently, there are eight vocational education centers of the State Employment Service in Ukraine that provide training in over 400 areas of skill enhancement.
The problem of shortage of qualified workers
It should also be noted that there is a disbalance in the labor market in Ukraine due to the reduced interest of young people in technical and working professions. President of the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine Oleksii Miroshnychenko claims that in 2025 the country will face a shortage of more than half a million qualified workers, especially in technical fields and working professions. This could pose a serious challenge to the national economy.
